Next we looked into themes we personally found interesting. Martyn and I both liked it where the films twist people’s views and mind, whilst Craig liked films that emotion was a large theme involved and Becky enjoyed themes were characters had to find solutions to problems.
Our group started to bounce ideas off each other to where it could lead and came to the possibility of making the first part into a costume drama, inspired by Shakespeare where his favourite idea was a play inside a play. Of course Shakespeare and Costume Drama isn’t much of an area sought after by children or teenagers so our target audience would be middle aged adults.
Of course, because we are thinking of the prospect of working with a Costume Drama and some of the group aren’t that informed of the subject, we need to research the subject. So we decided on these jobs for each of us:
- I will research into costumes in films and TV programmes such as Pride and Prejudice, Emma and any other films set in the 1800’s. Also I will look at the language used as I do have the job of the scriptwriter.
- Craig is going to look into actors that star in era dramas, seeing if there are any common traits they have.
- Martyn will research into places in our surrounding area that could be used for a Costume Drama.
- Camera movements and representation in period dramas will be looked into my Becky.
Here is our group discussing different ideas. The bottom left is Craig, top left Martyn, bottom right Becky and top right Leonie (me).
